Prayer for Bible Study

Heavenly Father,

I come before You today with a heart full of gratitude, seeking Your presence as I prepare to study Your holy Word. You are the source of all wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, and I acknowledge that without You, I cannot fully grasp the depth of Your truth. Lord, I thank You for the gift of the Bible—Your living and active Word that guides, corrects, encourages, and transforms.

Father, as I open the Scriptures, I ask for the guidance of Your Holy Spirit. Illuminate my mind and heart so that I may understand the truths You have revealed. Remove any distractions, worries, or burdens that may hinder me from focusing on Your Word. Help me to approach this time of study with reverence, humility, and a sincere desire to know You more.

Lord, I pray for wisdom, as You have promised to give generously to those who ask (James 1:5). Help me to discern the meaning of the passages I read and to apply them correctly in my life. Let Your Word be a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105), guiding my thoughts, decisions, and actions.

Father, I ask that You soften my heart so that I may not only be a hearer of the Word but also a doer (James 1:22). Let Your truth take root in my heart, transforming my mind and shaping my character to reflect the image of Christ. Convict me where I need correction, encourage me where I need strength, and inspire me to live a life that honors and glorifies You.

Lord, I also pray for perseverance and discipline in my study. In moments of difficulty or confusion, help me not to grow weary but to seek deeper understanding through prayer, meditation, and the counsel of godly teachers. Let my hunger for Your Word grow daily, that I may delight in it as the psalmist did, saying, “Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day” (Psalm 119:97).

Father, I lift up others who are also studying Your Word. Bless and guide them in their pursuit of truth. Strengthen Bible study groups, churches, and ministries that seek to teach and spread Your Word faithfully. May we encourage one another in our faith and grow together in unity and love.

Lord, I commit this time of study into Your hands. Speak to me, teach me, and mold me according to Your will. May my life be a testimony of the power and truth of Your Word, and may I always seek to glorify You in all that I do.

In the precious name of Jesus, I pray.

Amen.
