Prayer for Anger and Jealousy

Heavenly Father,

I come before You today with a humble and contrite heart, seeking Your mercy, grace, and guidance. Lord, You are my refuge and strength, my ever-present help in times of trouble. You know my heart better than I do, and You see the struggles within me—the anger that rises up, the jealousy that creeps in, the emotions that sometimes feel overwhelming.

Father, I confess that I have allowed anger and jealousy to take root in my heart. I have harbored resentment, compared myself to others, and allowed bitterness to cloud my thoughts. I know that these feelings do not come from You, for You are a God of love, peace, and righteousness. Your Word teaches that human anger does not produce the righteousness that You desire (James 1:20), and jealousy only leads to destruction (Proverbs 14:30). Yet, in my weakness, I have struggled to let go.

Lord, I surrender these emotions to You. I lay down my anger, my jealousy, my frustrations, and my insecurities at Your feet. Wash over me with Your peace, O God. Fill my heart with Your love and help me to see others through Your eyes. Teach me to rejoice with those who rejoice and to weep with those who weep (Romans 12:15). Help me to be content with the blessings You have given me and to trust in Your perfect plan for my life.

Father, when anger rises within me, remind me to pause, to breathe, and to seek Your wisdom before I speak or act. Let my words be seasoned with grace and my actions be guided by love. Help me to be slow to anger and quick to forgive, just as You have forgiven me. Remove any bitterness that lingers in my heart and replace it with kindness, compassion, and a spirit of reconciliation.

When jealousy tempts me, remind me that my worth is found in You alone. I do not need to compare myself to others, for You have created me uniquely and wonderfully. You have a purpose and a plan for my life that is different from anyone else’s. Help me to trust in Your timing and to celebrate the successes of others without feeling diminished. Let me find joy in the blessings You have given me and remain confident in Your love.

Holy Spirit, work within me to transform my heart and renew my mind. Teach me to walk in the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Let these virtues replace my anger and jealousy so that I may reflect Your character in all that I do.

Lord, I know that I cannot overcome these struggles on my own, but with You, all things are possible. Strengthen me daily, remind me of Your truth, and lead me in the way everlasting. Thank You for Your endless mercy and for never giving up on me. I trust in Your power to heal and restore my heart.

In Jesus’ name, I pray,
Amen.
